Sweet Iron bits are made of iron and are recognizable by their distinctive blue color. When in contact with moisture, be it humidity or saliva, rust forms on the surface, which has a pleasant sweet taste and naturally stimulates saliva production. This causes the horse to foam more and accept the bit better.
A double-jointed mouthpiece is considered a standard mouthpiece. It has two hinges, is shaped towards the mouth, and sits a little looser in the mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Caution is advised with narrow lower jaws, as the hinge points can press on the bars and lead to injuries. Compared to a single-jointed bit, this one applies more pressure to the tongue.
The Kimblehook is similar to a pelham bit, but has a milder effect and is ridden with one rein. The rider can determine the sharpness of the bit themselves, with a lower rein position meaning stronger leverage and thus a sharper bit. This cheekpiece gives the rider more control over the horse than a standard cheekpiece and is therefore not suitable for inexperienced riders.
