Welcome to the fascinating world of Sweet Iron bits – each piece a masterpiece of robust iron with a distinctive blue patina. But the true jewel of these bits lies in their unique property: Sweet Iron reacts to (air) humidity, forming a sweet-tasting surface rust layer and naturally stimulating saliva production. This encourages the horse to foam more and happily accept the bit.
A single-jointed bit is a standard mouthpiece with one hinge point, which exerts less pressure on the tongue compared to a double-jointed mouthpiece. It primarily focuses on the loads and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate.
The Eggbutt bridoon, in combination with a Weymouth bit, allows two different bits to be worn simultaneously in the horse's mouth. The smaller rings of the bridoon provide sufficient space for the action of the Weymouth bit. This combination is primarily used in advanced dressage and requires experienced handling.
